Parmesan Orzo (Easy)

Simple pasta dish to make on the side for most any meal.  I like orzo pasta, it has such a cool shape and size to it.  Who knew you could saute' it in a frying pan with some butter and that it would brown like those box mixes of Rice a Roni do!  It makes for a pretty fancy looking pasta side and very tasty as well.  I do like Parmesan cheese very much!  Another serving suggestion to use leftover, if you have any left over Parmesan orzo is to make a can of tomato soup and mix in your leftovers in that, a great lunch idea!

Serves 4

Ingredients

  •  3 Tablespoons Butter
  •  1-½ cup Orzo Pasta
  • 3 cups Chicken Or Vegetable Stock
  • 6 Tablespoons Fresh Basil (or 2 Teaspoons Of Dried)
  • ½ cups Freshly Grated Parmesan
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste

Directions
  1. Melt the butter over medium high heat.
  2. Add the orzo and sauté for several minutes, until the orzo starts to become golden brown.
  3. Add the broth, cover and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the orzo has absorbed all of the broth. Remove from heat, add the basil and the Parmesan, and season with salt and pepper to your liking.
Add more Parmesan if you want it to be really gooey and cheesy.

Orzo pasta, sold in a small box, cool shape, the pasta, that is, not the box!

Simple ingredients needed.
Butter melting in large frying pan and you will need a lid with your frying pan for the simmering process.
Once the butter has melted, add your uncooked orzo pasta to the pan.
Orzo sauteing until it browns a little bit more.
Next you will add your broth, bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed.
Simmering......
