Broccoli Salad (Easy)

This is a great summertime salad but I will make it for anytime of the year.  You can prepare this salad the day before eating it but don't mix the ingredients together until you actually are going to serve it because the broccoli will go limp and loose its crispness.  If prepared ahead of time, store all the ingredients in individual Ziploc bags or containers and just pour all the ingredients into one big container that has a snap on lid and shake to coat it all.

Ingredients:
  • 4 cups broccoli, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon or you could also use Oscar Meyer Real Bacon Bits
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup salted sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup red onion sliced thin
Combine:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. cider vinegar
Directions:
  1. Do not make salad too far ahead of eating time as it will get limp and by limp I mean if you mix the sauce with the broccoli, fresh cut broccoli by itself cut up ahead of time will not get limp.
  2. You can prepare all the ingredients ahead of time but keep them separate from each other until the moment you actually want to eat the salad. I would suggest cutting up the 4 cups of broccoli ahead of time and storing it in an airtight container or a large Ziploc.
  3. I would cut the onion up and store that separately as well in its own Ziploc until needed as well.
  4. If you use fresh bacon, you can even make that ahead of time and crumble it up and store it in a small Ziploc.
  5. Make the sauce ahead of time and store in a container.  When the time comes to eat this salad, get a large plastic bowl with lid; put all the ingredients in it and pour the sauce all over and shake to coat.
